3 Tips to Organize Your Kitchen Like a Pro
Living
Organizing your kitchen isn’t as easy as it seems.
All of those cabinets, shelves, and drawers keep your stuff tucked away. But, what if you’re just hiding a disaster?
Are your cabinets, drawers, and pantry a mess? Learn how to control the hidden clutter in your kitchen and make everything easy to find and easy to put away.
In short, organize your kitchen like a pro, and make both prep and cooking simpler.
How to Organize Your Kitchen’s Hidden Clutter
If your clean kitchen has a dirty little secret, don’t worry. You can absolutely make the guts of your kitchen – the insides of the drawers and cabinets – look just as good as the outside.
To do it, arrange everything according to three zones: the refrigerator, the sink, and the stove/range. This keeps your kitchen supplies organized according to their use and makes everything both handy and easy to find.
1. Keep Food Prep Supplies Near the Refrigerator
Your refrigerator is food prep central, so store all of your basics around this area.
Of course, everything that needs to be chilled or frozen goes in the fridge. In addition, keep pantry items and nonperishables in nearby cabinets. This will speed up unloading groceries as well as grabbing supplies for making dinner or baking.
Separate your food prep by use: Store baking necessities together. Do the same with snacks, breakfast items, dry goods, and meal ingredients.
2. Store Dishes, Utensils, and Glassware Near the Sink/Dishwasher
Washing dishes and loading/unloading the dishwasher is easier if your dishware is stored around your sink/dishwasher.
Just remember to store all like items together. Store your most-used cups, mugs, and plates in an easily accessible area.
For your kitchen knives, store them midway between your refrigerator zone and your sink zone. They’ll be quick to grab or wash when you’re prepping food.
3. Keep Cookware, Pots, and Cooking Utensils by the Stove/Range
Keep everything you cook with near the stove for ultimate organization and efficiency. Have frying pans and saucepans together, as well as your cooking pots and cooking utensils like spatulas, turners, large spoons, and tongs.
To make transferring your cooked food from pot or pan to table easier, store your serving ware in this area, too. This includes platters and large serving bowls.
Organize Your Kitchen the Smart Way
If the inside of your cabinets, pantry, and drawers is a jumble, you won’t enjoy cooking and baking as much as you could.
If your mixing bowls are wedged into a cabinet with your frying pans or your pantry items are across your kitchen from the refrigerator, you’re just making yourself work harder.
Improve your life and organize your kitchen logically. Pretty soon, you’ll find that working, cooking, baking, and entertaining in your kitchen are a breeze. Even better – the inside will match the outside.
