How to Design a Serene Bedroom
Living
Your bedroom should be a cozy place where you can relax to your heart’s content, not to mention get a good night’s rest. But, how do you create a room that ticks all of the boxes? To help encourage restfulness, serenity, and peace, learn how to design a bedroom that soothes the soul.
How to Design a Bedroom That’s Cozy and Calm
A serene bedroom is a beautiful thing. The second you walk in, your blood pressure lowers and you feel at ease. To create this environment, follow these tips for how to design a bedroom.
1. Less Is More
For true serenity, you need to get rid of visual clutter that can likewise clutter up your mind. In the bedroom, stick to a minimal amount of furniture and wall art, and keep floors and surfaces clear. This will help cultivate clarity in your mind, too, every time you walk through the door.
2. Embrace Soft Textures
An extra cozy bedroom will have soft textures everywhere. Invest in plush bedding with lots of pillows. Get warm blankets made of high-quality fibers, like wool and cotton. Put a rug on the floor that makes your feet happy, too.
Your bed should make you want to climb in and sleep. If all you have are a spartan mattress and some crumpled sheets and blankets, it’s time for an upgrade.
3. Set the Mood with Color
The right color on the walls can do wonders as far as setting a serene, relaxed atmosphere. Don’t go too bright, and stick to colors that remind you of peace in nature, like a cool, calm lake or a warm blue sky with lazy clouds floating in it.
4. Keep Technology Out
For your best sleep, don’t put a TV or other electronic devices in the room. They’ll just serve as distractions, and the blue light will keep you awake longer. If you have trouble falling asleep, put a bookshelf in the room with good bedtime reading, and add a nightstand with a table lamp.
5. Improve Your Storage
In order to keep the room clear of clutter, you need good storage for all your clothes and accessories. If your closet isn’t adequate, invest in a wardrobe or set of deep drawers. If laundry finds its way all over the floor rather than put away, buy some big laundry hampers (lots of stores sell stylish options these days) and toss your clothes in there, instead.
